As a member of the class of '62, traveling from Ohio for my first class reunion, I can only say "wow". I had a wonderful time!! My husband, who knew no one, enjoyed the fact that I enjoyed it so much. It was wonderful to see so many classmates. Some, I have to admit, I didn't recognize at all, but then again, they didn't recognize me either. Thanks Joyce for putting in the effort to track me down and for all the work that you and the members of the committee did to make it a very special event. -- Norma Scott Conti '62
It was a great event and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Working on the decorations Saturday morning was fun and gave us an opportunity to visit in a smaller group. The tour of the school was nostalgic and stirred memories long dormant. It was obvious that we enlighted the understand of the current principal, as he watched us recalling childhood memeories from 1962, 1963, etc.--the snowball fight in the atrium (which kept me from being in the "honor society", the high school games in the gym and the plays in the auditorium--memories of Josephine Conger and Mildred Galloway--Miss Kay Kraus and the Spanish teacher, Mrs. Hamilton. – Karen Bius Shea ‘63
Everyone, I repeat, EVERYONE that I spoke with had a wonderful time. Thank you again for an unforgetable weekend that was enjoyed by all. – Vince Hughes ‘62
It was absolutely wonderful, and you did an incredible job of putting it all together. I can't thank you enough. I like the idea of staying in touch by getting together once a year, at least with those who live here in Memphis. I liked the name tags. I especially liked the pictures. What fun! – Bonnie Lendermon Kunzel ‘62
You and your committee did a superb job! The reunion was delightful and enjoyable. It was so good to see everyone and have a chance to visit after all these years. Thank you. -- Mary Sue Brumback Walker ‘62
I had a wonderful time and the reunion was lovely and so much fun. – Sonja Ungren Eccles ‘65
I thought everything was great. Thanks for all your efforts. I do agree that a simpler gathering would be good and for 62 and 63. I do hope not to blow up any balloons for awhile. -- Linda Derrington Mainord ‘63
I've been very impressed at the quality of the website and the overall planning/ organization. You and your colleagues have done a fabulous job. – Artie Nanney ‘63
All the comments I heard were Positive. Everyone really seemed to have a good time both nights. The '64 class is planning on having our 45th class reunion in 2009. – Charlene Foote Edwards ‘64
The reunion was fantastic!!! Thank Goodness for autofocus on the camera - tears were streaming down my cheeks at times. I was honored to be there - to see the first graduating class from my high school. I ended up with about 325 pictures from the reunion. You are all awesome! -- Lisa Powell, Overton ’83 (one of the photographers)
What a wonderful weekend!! I know there are many reunions in Memphis each year, but I doubt any have been as special as the Overton First Reunion. So many people that have not seen each other in 40 plus years. It was amazing, we picked up our conversations where we left them in the 60's. It's always great to be the first in anything, and we will always be the first graduating classes. Hope we get together sooner than the 50th. Thanks to all on the reunion committee for the many hours of hard work, that went into the planning and all the labor spent getting everything ready. The decorations looked "MARVELOUS DARRRRRLINGGGGGGGG." – Linda Glass Dowdy ‘63
It was an honor to be "Class Mother" and you know I was glad to help. It was great to see the fine men and women that these boys and girls have become. I deeply appreciated Grayson's being here with Dad [Harry H. Wilcox] and the nice things that Wayne [Capooth] and Mr. [Jim] Batson said about Dad. He loved to teach and believed in its importance. – June Freed Wilcox, mother of Joyce ’62, Margaret ’63 and Jim ’71, and Class Mother for Reunion 2007.
